Lamp Black is an opaque, soft black with a cool undertone. Lamp Black is useful to to conveniently darken a range of hues.
Artist Notes: A strong staining black, a little of this colour can go a long way. Use it to shade violets, or to create interesting shadows in foliage when added to Mayan Green or Mayan Indigo Blue.
Paint Maker’s Notes: Lamp Black is the oldest known black pigment and has been used extensively throughout history. Historically this pigment was produced from the residue left over from burning oil lamps.
