Scarlet
Scarlet
This rose red is among one of our most popular colours, perfect for portrait, landscape, floral, and botanical works, Scarlet is smooth to work with, blending beautifully with other colours.
Artist’s Notes: Less intense than Pyrrole, Carmine, and Naphthol, Scarlet’s cool undertone and semi-granular nature lend it to creating beautiful, interesting purples when combined with a variety of blues. Great in florals, combine Scarlet with Diarylide Yellow for a semi-granular vivid orange that would be at home in a Dutch floral masterpiece.
Paint Maker’s Notes: Naphthol pigments were introduced in the 1960s, and provide artists with a range of hues from yellows, through oranges, reds, and maroons.
