Raw Umber Dark Neutral is a dark, dull earth brown - a colour resembling dark chocolate - and is useful in landscapes, botanicals, and wildlife paintings.
Artist Notes: Raw Umber Dark Neutral, as its name suggests, has a more neutral undertone than its sister, Raw Umber Green Shade. Cooler than Burnt Umber, which has a reddish undertone.
Paint Maker’s Notes: The popularity of Umber pigments exploded during the Baroque period in Europe where it was relied upon to produce dark shadows in painting.
