Florentine Green
Florentine Green
Florentine Green is a deep, dull, forest green. One of the most durable and permanent pigments available, Florentine can be used as a base in portrait work, in landscapes, botanical, and wildlife paintings.
Artist Notes: This drab, opaque green is very versatile and able to create a variety of greens that are effective in landscapes when combined with bright yellows like those in the Hansa family. Florentine Green can be used for neutralizing vivid, bright greens like Phthalo Green.
Paint Maker’s Notes: Chromium oxide pigments were first produced in Paris during the 19th century, and were sold as artist pigments soon after.
