Eric Rowe
Eric Rowe was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, a city he still calls home. From his suburban garden, to the idyllic scenery of the Canadian prairies and western Canada, Eric takes inspiration from the natural environment around him. His works depict fleeting moments found in nature from summer storms to apple blossoms, and capture the seasonal transformations within his environment.
Largely self-taught, Eric has worked in a variety of mediums including oil, encaustic, and his first love, watercolour. He also teaches painting and drawing workshops from his shops Black Dog Art Supply and Framemasters Custom Framing, businesses he has owned and operated in Regina for the past seventeen years . In 2016, Eric founded the Stoneground Paint Co., a handmade watercolour company whose mission is to connect modern artists to the artistic traditions of the past. In 2020, all three companies were finally located under one roof, where Eric enjoys meeting likeminded creatives, and extolling the benefits of handmade watercolour paint.
Eric’s works can be found in private, public, and corporate art collections across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Europe, and Asia. When he’s not busy painting, he can be found pottering around his garden, or encouraging others to pick up a paintbrush.
